The Malolo is John Puakea’s unlimited OC6 design. The hull shape advancements and reduction in weight improve flat water speed and acceleration in the surf.
Streamlined and ultra-light, the Malolo accelerates to top speeds quickly and takes less effort to catch bumps and maintain glide. Unlike other unlimited canoes, it features a sleek, comfortably narrow hull at only 18 1/4″ in at the widest point of the waterline and only 16 1/2″ inches at the widest seat in the middle. Strong lines and a commanding profile add a visual aesthetic that's hard to miss in the lineup or on the beach. The Malolo continues to prove itself in competitive events across the world.
Outriggerzone construction
Outriggerzone canoes like the Malolo are unique in being built as a single, seamless piece, reducing weight and eliminating weak points like glue lines. Outriggerzone canoes are also made with prepreg carbon fiber, a construction method adopted from the aerospace industry, which has high-tempature-curing resin impregnated into it. This allows us to carefully control weight, eliminate dilutents, and deliver a canoe that doesn't deform over time.
